Don’t worry about it. Humility is the beginning of wisdom. The point isn’t to be right as much as it is not to make glaring errors which I am sure isn’t the case with you. You’re too smart for that.

I’m delighted to find that someone else uses the word ‘inconcinnity’. The proof reader wanted to remove it from my book, because he thought I meant ‘inconsistency’. Regarding the argument of fatigue, 17 such arguments that indicate Matthean priority over Mark Markan fatigue have been posted here. If you know of refutations to any of these posted anywhere, or in any literature, please let me know.
I have thought for some time that a good place to find evidence of Lukan dependence on Matthew is in parallels to Markan narrative material where the issue of “Q” is irrelevant. Maybe all of these are coincidental, or the result of similar compositional tendencies, but they seem to more easily suggest to me that Luke was familiar with the Matthean version of the story. In fact, Markan priority still comes out strong.
5.2 The Synoptic Gospels and Acts – Evidences for Christianity
The present article is confined to the consideration of the relations and general features of the first 3 Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke –ordinarily named “the Synoptic Gospels,” because, in contrast with the Fourth Gospel, they present, as embodying a common tradition, the same general view of the life and teaching of Jesus during His earthly ministry, and of His death and resurrection. The Fourth Gospel, in itself and in its relation to the Synoptics, with the Johannine literature and theology generally, are treated in special articles.
The place of the Gospels in church tradition is secure. It is acknowledged that by the end of the 2nd century these 4 Gospels, and none else, ascribed to the authors whose names they bear, were in universal circulation and undisputed use throughout the church, stood at the head of church catalogues and of all VSS, were freely used, not only by the Fathers of the church Irenaeus, Tertullian, Clement, Origen, etc.
Justin Martyr, in the middle of the century, freely quotes from “Memoirs of the Apostles,” “which are called Gospels,” “composed by the apostles and those that followed them” 1 Apol.

The gospels of Matthew , Mark , and Luke are referred to as the synoptic Gospels because they include many of the same stories, often in a similar sequence and in similar or sometimes identical wording. They stand in contrast to John , whose content is largely distinct. This strong parallelism among the three gospels in content, arrangement, and specific language is widely attributed to literary interdependence.
Broadly speaking, the synoptic gospels are similar to John: all are composed in Koine Greek , have a similar length, and were completed within a century of Jesus’ death. They also differ from non-canonical sources, such as the Gospel of Thomas , in that they belong to the ancient genre of biography, collecting not only Jesus’ teachings, but recounting in an orderly way his origins, his ministry and miracles, and his passion and resurrection.
In content and in wording, though, the synoptics diverge widely from John but have a great deal in common with each other. Though each gospel includes some unique material, the majority of Mark and roughly half of Matthew and Luke coincide in content, in much the same sequence, often nearly verbatim. This common material is termed the triple tradition. The triple tradition, the material included by all three synoptic gospels, includes many stories and teachings:.
The triple tradition’s pericopae passages tend to be arranged in much the same order in all three gospels. This stands in contrast to the material found in only two of the gospels, which is much more variable in order. The classification of text as belonging to the triple tradition or for that matter, double tradition is not always definitive, depending rather on the degree of similarity demanded. Matthew and Mark report the cursing of the fig tree [Mt —22] [Mk —24] , a single incident, despite some substantial differences of wording and content.
In Luke, the only parable of the barren fig tree [Lk —9] , is in a different point of the narrative.

The gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are referred to as the synoptic Gospels because they This exemplifies the prevailing scholarship of the time, which saw the canonical gospels as late products, dating from well into the second century.
What is the meaning of synoptic gospels? The first three gospels are Matthew, Mark and Luke. No in-depth study is needed to notice these three documents share a lot of common information figure shows these relationships. That means that out of the verses in Matthew, about close to half contain information also found in Mark. Only 31 verses in Mark are unique to that gospel. This has led to the widely held notion that Mark was the first gospel written, and that both Luke and Matthew had at least a partial copy of Mark available to them, as they wrote their gospels.
When we compare Luke to Matthew excluding verses similar to Mark , we notice these two have about verses with common material not found in Mark. This leaves about verses unique to Matthew and perhaps unique to Luke. This similarity between the two has led to the popular theory that Luke and Matthew shared a common source which was available to both. Yes, there is much similar material, but each gospel seems to access additional information. Even Mark, thought to be the earliest gospel, has occasionally more detailed descriptions than Luke and Matthew.
